The Private Pilots Licence

Privileges of a PPL (Private Pilots Licence) condensed:-

-Fly a "single engine piston" light aircraft, and carry passengers.

-Fly in "visual meteorological conditions" (i.e., not in cloud or at night).

The PPL requirements (condensed):-

-Hold a valid CAA medical certificate.

-Hold a radio telegraphy licence.

-Log 45 hours of flying which 10 must be solo.

-Pass the following ground exams (within 18 months)

1. Air law 2. Human performance and limitations 3. Airplanes general knowledge and principles of flight 4.Meteorolgy 5. Flight performance and planning and 6. Navigation and radio aids.

-Pass a two part skills test

1. A triangular cross country flight including two landings away from base 2. A general flight test, with emergencies thrown in including a diversion simulating bad weather.
In addition to flight tuition our instructors will advise you on how to obtain the necessary certificates and licences, and help you learn the material needed to pass the ground exams.
