30 Minute "Introductory Flying Lesson" Flight

The "Introductory Flying Lesson" flight offers you the unique opportunity to have "hands on" experience of flying the De Havilland DH82a Tiger Moth.

The Cambridge Flying Group are the only flying organisation in the world offering ab initio training on the Tiger Moth. Flying this aircraft is a truly wonderful experience, probably the most fun you have had with your clothes on.

You will be provided with a flying helmet, but should bring warm windproof clothes - in the winter you will want several layers!

The main purpose of the flight is to introduce you to the joys of flying an open cockpit vintage bi-plane aircraft. You never know, like many others you may get hooked, and this could be your first step in gaining your PPL (Private Pilots Licence).

Prior to the flight you will be briefed on the aircraft, its controls and systems and what to expect. This will include a full safety briefing and an explanation of the effects of the control column, rudder, trimmer and throttle.

During the flight of approximately 30 minutes your instructor will demonstrate  various manoeuvres and then you will be given the controls of the aircraft for you to try them yourself. Typically you will receive training in the basic elements of flight: straight and level flight, climbing, descending, and turning.

You can count the flight towards the qualifying time for a PPL.

"Introductory Flying Lesson" flights currently are only available at weekends and cost £180. To book  call +44 (0) 1763 264262: alternatively, visit or call the club house (+44 (0)1223 293343) at weekends between 10am and 4pm (5pm summer).
